Light smoke on the nose gives way to a more prominent smoky profile on the palate, alongside crisp iodine and sweet, jammy fruit. That change in emphasis is the point of interest here: smoke is clearly present, but it shares space with the fruit rather than defining every note. Sea-air notes, peat and oak carry into a medium-long finish. This seems a good fit for someone who wants Islay smoke with a substantial fruity counterweight.
The stewed fruit and Islay smoke sound warmly balanced.
The oak appears on the nose and in the dry, oaky finish, but fruit, smoke and iodine seem to lead the story. I’m not sure the wood has enough weight to anchor this one; it sounds more driven by its Islay character.
