Description

This Waterford Single Farm Origin Grattansbrook Edition 1.1 is an Irish single malt whisky, part of Waterford's series exploring the influence of terroir on whisky. It is crafted from Taberna barley harvested in 2015 from Grattansbrook Farm in Co. Kildare, grown by Andrew Bergin. Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2021, this expression was matured for 3 years and 10 months in a combination of first-fill American oak, virgin oak, French oak, and Vin Doux Naturel (VDN) casks. It is a UK exclusive release, non-chill filtered, and free from artificial coloring.

Nose
Rather malty with freshly baked bread, barley sugar, green grapes, apples, honey, vanilla, and fresh lemon juice. Fruit-forward with dried nectarine and sultana, a dusting of cocoa, raisins, sweet hot chocolate, citrus zest, toffee, exotic spices, and banana.
Palate
A creamy mouthfeel with creme brulee, bread, oatmeal porridge, and tea biscuits. Fresh pears, golden kiwis, lemon pie, grapefruit, mandarins, and spices like pink peppercorns and cinnamon. Chocolatey notes persist, backed by rounded malt, fresh vanilla, a splash of citrus, rich texture, marzipan, white grapes, and lemon zest.
Finish
Mid-long with spices, a hint of oak, and mandarins. Drying spiciness of cinnamon and ginger, with a dry, oily character.
