Description

This Westland 7 Year Old Single Cask #6296 is an American Single Malt Whisky, distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2021. Matured initially in new American oak and then finished for just under three years in a fresh Marsala cask, this expression was selected and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange. It was produced at cask strength with an ABV of 53.8% and is free from chill filtration and artificial coloring. Only 225 bottles were produced.

Nose
Dates, raisins, sticky toffee, orange peel, plum pudding with kirsch-soaked cherries and a top note of rancio. Rich caramel and fruity dark chocolate, brown sugar, liquorice, berry fruit (blackberries and blackcurrants), polished oak, and raisin-studded fruit cake.
Palate
A lovely lick of saltiness with rum and raisin, hints of cherry, sugar-coated plums and orange peel. Date syrup and grenadine briefly reveal dark, toasted malt loaf and lebkuchen before a resurgence of pomegranate molasses, grippy pine terpenes, and cracked black pepper.
Finish
Long and rich with nutty Marsala notes. Peppermint candy canes, rising eucalyptus and cranberry tannins transition into cocoa solids, tobacco, dandelion leaf with a touch of meaty mushroom sulphur and dried chilli numbness.
