Description
Founded in 1882 by Charles Mackay and James Whyte, the company's first blended whisky was Whyte & Mackay Special and proved hugely popular in the UK and other English-speaking countries worldwide. Over the years, Whyte & Mackay have either taken over or merged with the owners of several distilleries including Dalmore, Fettercairn and Tomintoul, and later, their own grain distillery; Invergordon. Whisky Works is an independent arm of Whyte & Mackay, established by Whisky Maker and Blender Gregg Glass in 2017 to create experimental whiskies. This Quartermaster 11 Year Old is a blend of Highland grain and Speyside malts, matured in ex-rum barrels, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, American white oak, and sherry butts. It was bottled in 2019 as part of their 'Modern Experiment' range, with a limited release of 2,134 bottles.
