Description

Master Distiller Dave Pickerell started an experimental batch of rye whiskies, drawing inspiration from the best techniques of distillation, marrying, finishing, and vatting this 100% rye whiskey into perfection. Aged for six years in charred American oak barrels, it was crafted to be an ideal rye for cocktails. The WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye Whiskey won a double gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Nose
Fresh cinnamon, black peppercorn, a hint of tangerine and grapefruit zest. Tangy orange and lemon, with robust pepper warmth and a touch of caraway. Subtle notes of tobacco leaf, leather, and peppercorn.
Palate
Powerfully spicy, with cocoa, cardamom and cured leather flavors. Sweet and spicy with brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, bold rye spice, and white peppercorn. Slightly chocolatey, with ripe fruit and toasty spices.
Finish
Wonderfully lengthy, with baking spices, vanilla and hints of citrus. Cinnamon, new leather, and buttery toffee. A medium-long finish with heated spice, dry leather, and light tobacco notes.
