Description

A bottle of 1958 White Horse Scotch Whisky, distilled, blended and bottled in Scotland by White Horse Distillers Ltd. This blended Scotch whisky is known for its distinctive peaty character, largely due to the inclusion of Lagavulin single malt from Islay in its blend. The bottle is number 1499094. While the size is not explicitly stated on the bottle, it is estimated to be 75.7cl. This release was bottled at 40% ABV, corresponding to 70 UK proof. White Horse was named Blended Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's 2007 Whisky Bible.

Nose
Toffee and grape sweetness, hints of malt and freshly baked bread, faint oak and smoky notes, mineral peat, copper coins, paper, a touch of brine, lemon, dried orange peel.
Palate
Soft with light toffee, brown butter, and almond. Malt and pepper mix with soft peat, smoke, and faint hints of oak. Savory, almost bacon-fat richness, pine resin, char.
Finish
Medium length with notes of toffee pepper and faint peat. Oily and concentrated, with peat smoke lingering alongside dried spice, drying gently. Quite a bit of char.
