Description

Founded in 1882 by Charles Mackay and James Whyte, the company's first blended whisky was Whyte & Mackay Special and proved hugely popular. Whyte & MacKay is known for its triple maturation process, where malt whiskies are aged, then married in sherry casks, and finally blended with grain whiskies and returned to cask for a third maturation. This process aims for a smoother, richer taste. The company owns several distilleries including Dalmore, Fettercairn, and Tomintoul.
