Description

The Single Cask Nation Williamson 2014 10 Year Old is the first of its kind to be released by Single Cask Nation. Distilled in September 2014, it's lively and full of spirit, with the classic briny notes expected from Islay. Matured for 10 years in a refill recharred hogshead, it balances smoky brine with vibrant fruit, offering a layered, peaty malt. Bottled at 56.3% ABV from cask #191681, only 281 bottles were released, making it a rare find.

Nose
Surprisingly gentle for a Williamson. Buttered crumpets covered in salted butter lead the way, with hints of lemon, lime, and sourdough bread. Peat is present but very restrained for a Laphroaig of this age. Vanilla extract, bread dough, tar, and simple syrup appear with time. Unmistakable aromas of a wild and peaty Islay malt. Smoke swirls with a briny confidence, with a touch of spice like jalapeño brine.
Palate
Starts with barley sugar sweetness, almost grain like, before transitioning into notes of ash, iodine, and simple syrup. Followed by a burst of citrus and a cracked black pepper and sweet chilli spice. Oily texture, sweet malty note under the smoke, fruity character like tart blackcurrants. Black pepper and a twist of chilli.
Finish
Medium length finish. Smoke carries on along the palate and has a touch of an ashy finish.
