Description

This limited-edition English single malt whisky from White Peak distillery is a collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery. It was first aged in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 3 years before being finished for several months in casks that previously held Thornbridge's acclaimed imperial stout, Necessary Evil. These stout casks were originally ex-red wine STR (shaved, toasted, recharred) and, for some releases, previously matured Pedro Ximenez sherry, imparting layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and roasted malt to the lightly peated whisky. It is bottled at 51.3% ABV, at natural color and without chill-filtration.

An initial big caramel and malt nose, grist-like, with chocolate, biscuity notes, roasted coffee bean, apples, dates, sweet vanilla fudge, golden syrup, milk chocolate, creamy coffee, caramel Biscoff biscuits, treacle, cinnamon, gingerbread, oak spice, cola cubes, ground almonds, sour cherry, and cinnamon.

Toffee apples, red berries (strawberries and raspberries), coffee notes, dark chocolate, hazelnuts, gentle peat smoke, malty stout character, vanilla, golden syrup, milk chocolate, treacle, toasted wood, stewed dates, orange peel, gingerbread, pepper, biscuity malt, sticky dried fruit, garden herbs, and a hint of spearmint.
