Description

The oldest single malt whisky distillery in Japan, Yamazaki was founded in 1923 by Shinjirō Torii and is owned by Suntory. This Yamazaki 1986 20 Year Old Decanter is a special release distilled in 1986 and bottled in 2006 for the 20th anniversary of a provincial Japanese department store, Korinbo Yamato. It was a limited edition of 1,000 decanters.

Golden raisins studded in rum ice cream, avocado, soursop, cranberry, mace, honey, soy wax, sarsaparilla, eucalyptus, plum brandy. With water: more cranberries, medjool dates, dark herbal jellies, plasters, cacao nib tea.
Palate
Weighty. Excellent alcohol integration. Cherry soda, lychee, feijoa, orange blossom water, agave nectar, sandalwood at the edges.
Finish
A herbal hint of cordyceps, nutmeg, fennel seed, then chestnut mont blanc, purple sweet potato, soursop appears again.
