The Yamazaki Mizunara 18 Year Old 2017 Edition is an incredibly rare and highly sought-after Japanese single malt whisky, bottled at 48% ABV. This limited release showcases Yamazaki's mastery of Mizunara oak, a notoriously difficult but unique Japanese wood. The whisky is a blend of single malts aged for at least 18 years, with some components up to 50 years old, matured exclusively in Mizunara casks. Presented in a bespoke wooden box crafted from recycled Suntory casks and featuring a handmade Echizen paper label, this expression offers a complex and uniquely Japanese profile.

Rich and elegant fragrance with notes of sandalwood, incense, orange peel, dried fruit, vanilla, and a hint of coconut and cedar. Underlying notes of cinnamon, pear puree, and subtle cherry preserves.
Palate
Silky texture with condensed sweetness, dry fruits, coconut, and orange marmalade. Notes of umeshu, green plums, white peppers, and stone fruits with a vanilla burst. A creamy, oaky fruitiness with tropical and perfume notes, and a spicy Mizunara wood character.
Finish
Long and lingering with distinctive spiciness, Japanese incense, aloe wood, cinnamon, and tartness. Accented by clove, sandalwood, hints of dried coconut, dark spices, apples, and citrus dryness, leaving an assertive and drying impression.
