The Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2013 Edition is a Single Malt Japanese Whisky, part of the 2013 Cask Collection. It was matured in Japanese Mizunara oak casks and bottled in 2013 at 48% ABV. This limited release consisted of 1600 bottles and was produced by the Yamazaki distillery, celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2013. It is non-chill filtered and comes in its original box.

Nose
Sweet, spicy and perfumed oak, leathery notes or new suede, sugared almonds, coconut, woody incense, cinnamon, caramelised oranges. Fresh fruits like red apple and banana peel, subtle notes of sandalwood and cardboard, with a slight waxiness, hints of juniper, cloves, and lemon custard. Caramel, toasted oak, and warm baking spices.
Palate
Huge delivery of sweet and oily aromatic oak, butterscotch, leather, mocha, coconut, spicy raisin. Hints of sawdust, plenty of citrus notes such as lemon, apricots, and mango. A tannic layer with spicy bitterness and earl grey tea. Brine, olive oil, bread and yeast, with a background of sweetness like croissant and white chocolate. Creamy caramel note, with a prominent oaky element that is spicy, drying, and slightly bitter. Layers of vanilla, honey, and rich malt sweetness.
Finish
Chocolate, coconut, aromatic spices, buttery cake mix, sandalwood. Lingering bitterness, medium in length. Long, with woody and toasted notes, pepper, and warm butter. Mellow and lasting with hints of citrus notes and light sparkles of youthful spices. Long and smooth with lingering oak and spice.
