Description

The Yamazaki distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjirō Torii, is Japan's oldest commercial whisky distillery and is owned by Suntory. This 7-year-old Pure Malt whisky, launched in the Japanese market in the 1980s, is primarily made from select malt whiskies from the Yamazaki distillery, with a small portion from the Hakushu distillery. It was aged in sherry casks.

Nose
Smooth, quite heavy sherry. Oak, raisins, stone fruit (plums?), toffee, wood stain. What seems like a touch of peat or smoke.
Palate
Ripe stone fruit, Christmas cake, milk chocolate, raisins, wood stain and again that hint of smoke/burnt twigs/matches. Well balanced.
Finish
Spicy, raisins, plums, chocolate, mint. Warming on the chest and of medium length. A little dry.
