Nose
Polished oak furniture, sweet spices such as liquorice and cinnamon, with heather honey, and some red berries. Waxed oak wood, cumin spice and pink peppercorns, kumquat & raspberry, fresh and floral, rosewater & toasted flaked almonds, wood and leather tannins suggest cocoa powder and a dusting of cinnamon & nutmeg. Caramel-like bitterness with chestnut, woody flavours, gradually developing into Bourbon oak sweetness of vanilla.
Palate
Bakewell tart, blackberries, oaky vanilla, woody spice, and dustings of cocoa powder. Fresh berry fruits; raspberry and strawberry, hints of cherry lips and strawberry laces, sweet and jammy, polished wood, chocolate and toffee, chocolate covered hazelnuts or almonds and raisins dusted with freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon sticks. Powerful woodiness and spicy touch. Charred oak and sweetness of brown sugar and chestnut at first, gradually developing into elegant malt.
Finish
Leathery spices and drying oak. Long, gentle tannins leather and tea and woody spices. Woody flavours of charred oak and caramel lingers after the first powerful impression.
