Description
Yamazakura is a Japanese whisky and comes from Sasanokawa shuzo, a spirits company recognised for its production of sake and shochu. The company was founded in 1765 and they got their license to produce whisky in 1946 but they do not release whiskies often. The whisky is mild and smooth in character and as a "Ji-Whisky" (one produced in a small distillery) is released in limited quantities. This is the Dekanta Yamazakura Asaka Aoi Edition 5th Anniversary Commemorative Single Cask Japanese Single Malt Whisky. Distilled on 27th June 2017, aged in a First-Fill Bourbon Cask, number #17172 and bottled on 13th July 2020. The name "Aoi" means blue in Japanese, chosen to reflect the symbolic significance of the colour for a 5-year anniversary. The label features Makito Masa, the founder of Dekanta, in a blue kimono.
