Aberlour Double Cask Matured 12 Year Old, Oak & Sherry Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

The red apple and orchard-fruit nose gives this a clear, fruit-led opening, but the palate turns toward richer sherry character: chocolate and toffee with cinnamon and ginger spice. That shift is appealingly defined, though it sounds more warming and sweet than especially fresh or brisk, so it sits a little outside my brightest-style preference. The lingering, slightly spicy finish keeps the sweetness from being the only impression. A solid, coherent profile.
