Balblair Private Collection 32 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 1973, Gordon & MacPhail, 45%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

90 / 100

The rich dried fruit and cocoa make a warm opening, while the palate’s black cherries and sherried raisins keep that sweetness going. I like the turn toward dry oak, which gives the sweeter notes some balance rather than leaving everything syrupy. The long, dry finish with lingering fruit, soft herbs and chocolate sounds like a thoughtful close. It’s an appealing contrast of deep fruit and drying wood.
