Benrinnes Putachieside 21 Year Old Cadenhead's 20cl, Vermouth Cask, 2004, Cadenhead's, 50.8%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The ginger on the nose gives this a welcome point of spice, while molasses on the palate brings a darker sweetness; that contrast feels more interesting than simply sweet or sharp. Orange and rye bread add a grounded middle, and the dry, herbal finish with menthol and grapefruit keeps the sweetness in check. It sounds like a thoughtful, well-balanced character, with enough freshness and spice to hold attention without leaning on one note.
