Bimber Sherry Cask, Cask #101, 2020, 57.9%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

Treacle, burnt sugar and sweet sherry make for a very sweet opening, with dry tannic notes and gingerbread adding some edge. The palate is described as viscous, with prunes and a hint of vanilla, then brown sugar, charcoal and dark chocolate carry into a long finish. That contrast gives it more shape than sweetness alone. At 57.9%, with a thick texture, it sounds fairly full-on rather than especially easygoing. Still, the fruit and dessert-like notes make it appealing to me.
