I like the contrast between the green grapes and tropical fruit up front and the darker espresso, cacao and liquorice on the palate. Christmas pudding and sticky ginger cake bring a sweet, spicy thread through the middle, while white pepper, charred oak and cherry marmalade carry it into a long finish. That shift from bright fruit to deeper spice gives this 20-year-old Highland single malt a clear, appealing shape.
