The oak looks well placed here: toasted oak and baking spices add structure, while vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch keep the bourbon’s sweeter side in view. That balance makes the new charred American oak cask feel like part of the character rather than a note competing with it. I especially like the connection between rye spice on the palate and baking spice in the finish; it gives the sweetness some shape without pushing the oak into the foreground.
