Bowmore The Perfume 25 Year Old, Hogshead Cask, 1987, Shinanoya & Tokyo, 47%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

There’s a quiet contrast here that catches my interest: smoke and salt give the palate a savoury edge, while the sweetness stays faint. The nose’s vanilla and cream suggest a softer counterpoint, rather than an entirely smoke-led character. I’m drawn to whiskies with clear herbal or tea notes, but this documented combination has its own understated appeal. The lingering salty sweetness sounds like a coherent close, not a shift into a new flavour direction.
