The peat makes no attempt at subtlety, but the rich, meaty palate gives it some backing. Water brings out oranges and lemons, and pepper and anise take over as the peat eases on the finish. That works for my taste; the ethanol on the nose and smoke crowding out the sweetness keep the score in check.
