There’s a clear push and pull here: red fruits, raisins and dark chocolate bring dense sherry sweetness, while peat, ash and liquorice keep the palate firmly smoky. The finish’s pepper, lemon and chalky note give that weight a brighter edge, which is the detail I find most appealing. The floral character on the nose adds another lift. It sounds bold and concentrated rather than delicate, but the contrast is specific enough to make this an engaging fit for someone drawn to clearly defined, layered whisky.
