Chichibu Tropical thunder 8 Year Old, Ex-Bourbon Barrel Cask, Cask #2, 2010, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, 60.9%

88 / 100

This sounds like a very fruit-forward dram, with pineapple cake and mango sticky rice leading into creamy coconut and sweet cream. I like the contrast that comes through later: the finish keeps some floral sweetness, but mild dryness and subtle bitter chocolate give it a less sugary edge. It still sounds firmly on the rich, jammy side, so the fruit-and-syrup character may be the main draw here.
