Chivas Century Of Malts, Sherry Cask, 1995, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

This Scottish blended malt brings together a notably sweet, gentle side and a light smoky edge. Citrus, sherry fruit and biscuit on the nose lead into caramel, apple and lemon tea, while oak and light smoke keep the palate from feeling purely dessert-like. The medium-length finish stays creamy and malty, with banana and a little espresso among the details. It sounds like a characterful take on blended malt, with plenty to notice without relying on heavy peat.
