Dailuaine Flora & Fauna 16 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 1991, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

there’s a lot of sweet, sherried richness here, but the orange and lemon notes keep it from reading as only dark and heavy. the old madeira, raisins and cherries give it a fruitcake feel, while the palate moves into toffee, plums and chocolate. i like that the finish brings some grapefruit bitterness alongside the nutty sweetness; it gives the richer flavours a little contrast. warming and fairly full in character, with a medium finish rather than a long one.
