Dewar's White Label Blended Scotch Whisky, 1960, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

Bright citrus and delicate pear give this blend a clear opening. Heather honey and vanilla soften it, while a hint of smoke adds interest. The palate moves toward vanilla fudge and toffee. Toasted oak and light spice provide a useful contrast to that sweetness. I favour smoke, so its presence on the nose and in the finish appeals to me. It stays restrained, though. Someone looking for smoke to lead may find the sweeter side more prominent than they prefer. The crisp, medium-length finish brings oak and herbal freshness alongside lingering honeyed sweetness. A faint wisp of smoke and a touch of pepper make for a measured close.
