The toasted-oak and maple cask details make this an especially appealing direction for a bourbon, without needing to guess what the cask contributed. The documented notes give it a pleasing thread from maple syrup and cocoa on the nose to sweet oak, molasses and toasted cinnamon on the palate. Then the finish brings in maple pecan pie and vanilla, with lemon and lingering cinnamon spice keeping the sweetness from being the only thing in the conversation. Nicely considered, and more than just a maple showcase.
