Fior Blended Scotch Whisky, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

This blend has a balance that appeals to me. Rich vanilla on the nose sits beside a subtle hint of campfire smoke. The palate brings oak and chocolate together with soft spices and a rounded feel. Oak is the part I would pay most attention to. The cask detail is simply oak, so I would not put the vanilla or chocolate down to a more specific cask style. The smooth, long finish moves into malt tones and warm salted almonds. I like the space given to both the vanilla and the oak, while the smoke stays a smaller part of the picture. There is plenty to follow here without any one note taking over.
