Glen Elgin 11 Year Old, Hogshead Cask, Cask #807729, 2012, Berry Bros & Rudd, 59%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

At 59%, this Glen Elgin doesn't hide behind fancy finishes. It's a straightforward hogshead maturation that delivers a solid punch of dark malt and pepper. It's young and a bit rowdy, but for those who actually enjoy high-proof spirits without the marketing fluff, it does the job well enough.
