Glen Garioch 20 Year Old, 1957, William Cadenhead, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

89 / 100

There’s a lovely contrast here: orange marmalade and green apple on the nose meet burnt wax, while the palate turns more bitter and gently spiced. The peat is described as light and distinctly Highland in character, rather than taking over. At 40% ABV, the bottling has a measured strength, and the notes suggest plenty of character without leaning on high proof. A distinctive old Highland single malt, with the wax and citrus combination doing the most to set it apart.
