The clearest contrast here is between ripe, sweet fruit and spice. Peach, raisin and honey on the nose give way to richer tropical fruit, caramel and baking spices on the palate. That change interests me more than sweetness alone: cinnamon and nutmeg offer a counterpoint to the apricot and pineapple. The finish is described as long, with caramelized crème brûlée, toasted almond, gentle spice and dried fruit. The almond gives the close a different focus from the fruit-led opening. Honey is a note I tend to favour, so the nose appeals to me, though the whisky’s rich fruit and dessert-like sweetness would be the main draw for someone choosing this style.
