Singleton Glen Ord 12 Year Old, American & European Oak Cask, Muscat Finish, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

The balance of vanilla sweetness, light sherry and berry fruit gives this 12-year-old a clear, approachable direction. Creamy, rounded fruit on the palate sounds like a good match for the Muscat finish named here, while the warming, smooth finish keeps the character measured rather than showy. I’m drawn more to that fruit-and-sherry combination than to any claim of herbal complexity; the documented notes don’t point that way. A pleasing, well-shaped choice for someone after a gentle, fruity malt.
