Glen Scotia Double Cask, American Oak & Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The sea-spray nose and gentle saltiness give this Campbeltown malt a clear coastal thread, while caramel, toffee and dried fruit bring a richer, sweeter counterpoint. I like that neither side seems to crowd out the other in the notes. The finish sounds especially appealing: dry, medium-long and carrying a bittersweet maritime saltiness alongside dark fruit and oak spice. A measured, warmly inviting character.
