The contrast between cayenne pepper and cinnamon buttercream on one side, and vanilla, butterscotch and caramel on the other, is what gives this whisky its appeal for me. The spice has a clear place without taking over the sweeter notes, while the orchard fruits and heather honey add another gentle layer on the nose. It reads as a sweet, spice-led character rather than a one-note sugar profile, which makes for an engaging combination.
