The sweet sherry and dried fruit on the nose lead into chocolate and nutty notes on the palate. Gentle spice and hints of oak add interest at the start, while the hint of cinnamon gives the richer palate a little definition. I tend to favour fresher whisky character, so this deeper combination is not quite my natural first choice. Still, the shift from fruit to chocolate and spice has a clear shape, and the long-lasting finish suits that richer character. It sounds more appealing to me for its balance of sweetness and spice than for richness alone. That distinction matters: there is enough detail here to hold my interest, even if my usual preference points elsewhere.
