Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition, 2017, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

85 / 100

There's a pleasing contrast between the earthy, soaked-wood nose and deep vanilla, then the palate shifts to sharp spice, round plum and toasted almond. The plum and almond give the spice a softer counterpoint, while the silky, warming finish keeps the overall impression measured rather than forceful. That combination sounds quietly characterful to me: enough change from nose to palate to hold interest, without losing an approachable feel.
