The hint of malt sits alongside pastry and custard on the nose, while the palate moves into mango, coconut and melon. That contrast gives the fruit a little more shape than sweetness alone. The pepper, ginger and cinnamon stay present across the notes, so this reads as a spice-led single malt as well as a tropical one. I’m drawn to that balance, though the finish’s occasional peppery tingle may put the emphasis more on spice than softness.
