Glenturret Polarising Perceptions 7 Year Old, Re-charred Hogshead Cask #16.37, 2010, Scotch Malt Whisky Society, 56.9%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

78 / 100

This is a strongly smoke-led Glenturret, with barbecue, ash and soot on the nose, then smoked sardines and cold liver oil on the palate. The savoury, oily finish keeps that line going. There is little here to soften the intensity, so it reads as a deliberately narrow, polarising style rather than an easy all-rounder. The detail is distinctive, but the smoke would need to be the point.
