Glenturret Ruadh Maor Strictly Limited 8 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 2012, Càrn Mòr, 47.5%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

85 / 100

The smoky, earthy character sounds quite direct, with salt-cured meat and honey roast parsnips on the nose, then barbecue-smoked ham and peat on the palate. Lemon, paprika and charred oak give the finish a more focused edge. There is enough contrast here to hold my interest, though the character seems firmly smoke-led.
