Grant's Triple Wood Smoky, American Oak, First-Fill Ex-Bourbon & Virgin American Oak Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

Grant’s reads as a balanced, moderately rich blend rather than a heavy one. Distinct smoke leads the nose, but fruit, malted oats and toasted almonds give it more than a single-note smoky character. On the palate, soft fruit, citrus, honey and vanilla point toward gentle sweetness, while mellow wood spice keeps it from sounding flat. The smoky, velvety finish and touch of dry tannin add a useful contrast. This sounds approachable and rounded, though not especially dense or intense.
