Highland Park Orcadian Vintage 1968 40 Year Old, Hogshead & Sherry Butt Cask, 2008, 45.6%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

91 / 100

The appeal here is the balance: soft, integrated peat sits alongside sherried sweetness, with dried fruit and orange zest giving the richer notes some lift. There is plenty of detail, but the smoky character stays gentle rather than taking over. The long finish carries that relationship forward into honey, spice and a dry, clean ending. For my preferences, that measured interplay matters more than sheer intensity.
