Jameson 1780 Reserve 12 Year Old, Bourbon & Sherry Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

The mellow pot still character, toasted wood and oloroso sherry undertones give the nose a clear direction. On the palate, smooth sweet wood and nutty notes sound like a natural continuation, while “exceptionally smooth” is the stated finish rather than a specific length. Bourbon and sherry casks are named, though that alone doesn’t explain how they were used. I like the wood-and-nutty-sweetness combination described here; it sounds approachable without needing extra flavour claims.
