Jim Beam Monterey Bay Salad Bowl Decanter 8 Year Old, New Charred Oak Cask, 1977, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

78 / 100

The fresh-cut timber and vanilla on the nose make the oak angle clear, but the palate sounds thinner, with nuts and black cherry syrup. That contrast leaves me unsure how well the oak-led description carries through; the slightly earthy, bitter finish adds another turn.
