Jim Beam Rye Pre-Prohibition Style, New Charred American Oak Cask, 45%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

83 / 100

The spicy nose, vanilla and oak give this rye a clear, straightforward direction, while the palate’s black-pepper bite sounds like the main point of distinction. I like that the finish is described as distinctly classic rye, but that says more about its character than its length; there isn’t enough detail to call it short or lingering. A practical, spice-led profile, with the finish the one part I’d want described more precisely.
