The appeal here is the balance between ripe fruit and spice: tropical fruit, plum and prune give the nose a sweet, rounded direction, while toffee and sweet spice bring contrast on the palate. The lingering spice sounds especially welcome, keeping the fruit from being the only thing in view. It reads as a fruit-led single malt with enough warmth in its character to hold my interest, without needing a more forceful spice claim than the notes support.
