Knockando 12 Year Old, 1993, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

At 43% ABV, this has a measured strength on paper, while the notes point to a lively contrast between dry pepper and sweeter details such as cream toffee and honeydew melon. The finish sounds particularly pepper-forward, building through cinnamon and black pepper, though it’s also described as short. That gives the character some definition without making the finish its strongest feature. The fruit and floral notes on the nose add welcome breadth to the sharper, spiced side.
