Knockando 12 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, 2009, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The Bourbon Cask detail is a useful anchor, but the appeal is the fruit-and-malt thread running through the notes. Apple and pear lead into peach and apricot jam, with vanilla custard and creamy toffee alongside. The clean, mildly sweet finish and soft wood spice sound balanced; the stated prickly edge adds a little contrast. A composed Speyside malt that gives the cask detail room without making it the whole story.
