Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Ex-Bourbon & Quarter Cask, 48%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

Toffee, nutty aromas, rum, juicy raisins and vanilla give the nose a generous sweetness. The palate adds a more forceful contrast: spice and warmth alongside smoke, iodine and peat, with sweet syrup in the background. The medium-long finish is the detail that makes the progression especially appealing, turning surprisingly fruity with caramelized sugar and cigar smoke. It’s a characterful, clearly layered single malt, with enough contrast to keep the sweetness from having the final word.
